Bonnie is allowing us to post something that we like, well she gave us a new texture pdpa vintage craquelure, so I just had to play. I took a photograph of a bunch of flowers I received this week, applied the texture at Hard Light 93% and then duplicated the layer and flipped it vertically and changed the opacity to 54%, added a blue colour adjustment layer. I used Rablab filter Lights On to brighten the image.

With this photograph I desaturated the image which is mainly of a sunrise and applied the texture at Hard Light.

This week’s tutorial is to take a Motorsports shot. Well that was last weekend in our area, so I settled on sports shots. I studied the technique and the manual and thought I knew it all LOL, but when we got to the local oval to take shots of the football (Australian Rules) I was getting dark images, so I switched to auto mode. I would like feed back on this image as I feel it does not have any oumph.

This was taken with these settings I 320 ISO 200 f/10 with a 55-300mm lens

Bonnie is talking negative space, well it took me ages to find a photograph that fitted the description. She also gave us a new texture to play with, so I had a play.

I played in Lightroom and then PSE10 here I just boosted the Adjustment levels.

The actual photograph I applied Find Edges filter and then overlaid with Bonnie’s new texture and used it several times at different blending modes and opacities. It is a bit of a pun about the quote, there are three birds at different levels, so one has to wait to step up the ladder (sorry).

Bonnie’s challenge was to play with black and white this week, I am always constantly surprised by the effects that occur when you play around with programs. I use Lightroom4 and PSE10 which does not have channel mixers etc, but I do have a plug in from Elements+. I was reading several articles on converting colour images to black and white and there was mention of the Split Channels (red, green and blue) and how you can utilize these channels. So I have been playing around. The first image of the ornamental grass from my garden is of the blue channel with pdpa Cool Breeze texture at Blending mode – Multiply 100% opacity.

This second image is of a red rose (sadly my roses are coming to an end), I have used the red channel with pdpa Mother Love texture.

 Also I was playing with the RAW features of my camera and love it when you edit in Lightroom.

L3. Golden Bokeh (Normal Blending) brushed out bokeh on building.

L4. Monet Skies (Overlay Blending) brushed out some texture on building and sky.

Bokeh Pears

Pears photographed on white paper adjustments made in Lightroom and a soft pink filter applied, then  Golden Bokeh applied.
