Tutorial Tuesdays – Silhouettes

This has been a hilarious tutorial, as the only way to get a silhouette at sunset is to be lower than your model, image a stiff boned 66 year old sitting on the sand, let alone getting up after getting another 66 year old to pose.  Thank goodness for trees.

Sunset at Lake Bonney

I did very little in the way of editing, just an exposure correction in Topaz Lab Adjust 5 and frame.  The next shot is of Henk, I did do some editing with the Hue and Saturation Adjustments in PSE10 using the individual colours.

I think I could have waited a little longer for the sun to set.

Quotography – Spiritual

This is not in my comfort zone, so I had to think about a saying and a photograph. Several days ago a snail had crawled up my window in our office and stayed there, so I just picked up by camera and took a black and white shot.  Did not think about it until I read this weeks challenge. So I created a black mask around the image and added a saying which has no reference.

Quotography – Trees

This photograph was taken at Overland Corner, South Australia during one of the frequent landscape drives Henk and I take from our home town of Berri.  Along the River Murray are many dead river gums that spread their majestic limbs towards the sky.  This shot was originally in colour, I have used Topaz Lab’s Black and White filter.

Photo Art Friday

This week I have taken some photographs that I took just recently of the garden, pond and PussPuss. I added the PDPA Cubed Texture to create the following image. Then I gave the image some HDR treatment in Topaz Lab Adjust 5.

Texture Tuesday – White

This week Kim Klassen has offered her new texture “Happy Heart” (also offered in Weekend Texture – just a little doubling up) to use in her challenge of photographing something white, I guess anything goes as she claims that photographing something in her “White” room qualifies. I am using an image of bones that I photographed just outside of Cullulleraine last week. I used the Happy Heart texture and then placed the image in Topaz Lab Black and White filter, and created an abstract image of the bones.

Tutorial Tuesdays – Dragan

I have seen this effect on portraits but never really gave it much consideration until this week.  So Henk very kindly allowed me to use his photograph, I had to weed out the crazy faces until I settled on a side profile.  I did all the editing in Topaz Labs Black and White filter and then a touch of HDR in Adjust 5.

Photo Art Friday – Layer Mask

Bonnie has asked us to submit a photograph where we have used one of her textures and used a layer mask to reveal some of the photograph underneath. I have chosen a hibiscus from my garden and Bonnie’s texture “Splendid”. I have desaturated the hibiscus.

Tutorial Tuesdays-wallpaper

This week the tutorial is to place a background behind a photograph giving it an entire new look.  I have chosen a photograph I took recently of a vase of flowers and a paper from mcmeen briseis collection.  And followed the tutorial but did not add a skirting board as the vase was sitting on a table.  To view other participants click on button in right hand sidebar.

I did have one problem of where the wall paper and the table met, so please excuse this mistake and would appreciate advise on how you would have treated this ares.
